Grace Dieu pupils have been enjoying cooking with ingredients freshly picked from their own veg patch.
Whilst Autumn is clearly on its way, with cooler temperatures and shorter days, the Grace Dieu veg patch is still producing – in fact, we are very much ‘in harvest’, ready for Harvest Festival!
Our giant tomatoes have ripened and provided a wonderful ingredient for our Cookery Club! The pupils hollowed the tomatoes and stuffed them with couscous, spring onions and mozzarella. While the stuffed tomatoes roasted in the oven, Mrs Maher showed them how to make tomato lady birds – which were very cute and still tasty! There were plenty of life skills in practice during this popular after school club – including knife skills, mixing and spreading.
