Year 5 sees pupils move into classrooms at the very heart of our main School building. The rooms, whilst still spacious, light and engaging, become a little more formal and structured – beginning to prepare pupils for their move to Secondary School.
Year 5 is taught by Mr Thomas Markham and Mrs Sharon Norris.

The children’s topic work each term is based on a Creative Curriculum which encompasses History, Geography, Art, Design and Technology and Computing.
Maths and English are taught in ability groups so that the children get the appropriate level of teaching and support required for them to meet or indeed exceed their end of year expectations. Children are tested termly in Maths and English. Parents are kept informed regarding their child’s performance which enables them to make informed choices when seeking out a Senior School for Year 7.
Throughout the year the children take part in various trips, activity days and workshops, mostly related to the topics being studied. They also have the opportunity in the Summer Term to take part in a three day residential trip to London. Last year the children enjoyed seeing Matilda in the West End and taking part in a Shakespeare tour at The Globe Theatre.
