This term the older pupils have been honing vital life skills in their School Council meetings; presenting ideas as well as discussing and debating which charities to support for the year ahead.
“The School Council, which has been running for over 14 years now, is just one of many ways we encourage our pupils to practise their communication skills,” says Headmistress Margaret Kewell. “Children from across the year groups work together and have, over the years, raised tens of thousands of pounds for local, national and international charities.”
This year the pupils are raising money for a primary school in Nepal, in conjunction with United World Schools (UWS). We had a great assembly led by Ellen from UWS, telling Grace Dieu about our partner school in Nepal, Wana School. We will be fundraising, starting with donations made on our home clothes day, for this amazing charity throughout the year and also learning much more about Nepal and the students of Wana.
