Winners of a Festive Challenge!

On Thursday 28th November, 8 of our Year 6 pupils attended a Festive problem-solving workshop at Trent College. These budding engineers competed against other schools to build the tallest or most creatively decorated Christmas tree. The children had just 1 hour to create their tree, so time was tight. All trees were judged on their overall height and level of decoration. Aliya, Stephen, Lexie and Olivia O built a lovely twiggy tree with some super pipe cleaner baubles. In the judging, Emily, Olivia H, Rahm and Milly were awarded the trophy for the tallest Christmas tree, measuring in at an impressive 142cm! The tree was beautifully decorated, too, complete with an adorable paper cup angel!

“It was fabulous to see such great teamwork, determination and resilience (especially as the trees did topple over numerous times) on show throughout the afternoon.  Well done to all of our pupils who took part and a special Congratulations to our 4 pupils who were awarded the trophy for the tallest tree!” says Mrs Sara Taylor, Grace Dieu’s Able, Gifted and Talented Co-ordinator. “Thank you to Trent College for inviting us to take part, we thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and had a great afternoon.”
